OSFP 8x100G FR PAM4 1310nm MPO-16 2km SMF

OSFP 8x100G FR transceiver modules are designed for 800 Gigabit Ethernet links over 2km of single-mode fiber. The module has 8 independent channels of electrical input/output, each operating at up to 106.25Gbps. This transceiver consists of two transmitter/receiver units, with each operating on a set of wavelengths on the ITU G.694.2 CWDM grid at 1310nm. The module’s transmitter path contains a bidirectional PAM4 re-timer ASIC integrating a silicon photonic laser and two 4-channel modulator drivers. On the receiver path, 8 photodiodes and two 4-channel TIA arrays, and PAM4 re-timers are used.

Q:Can this module be connected to 400G modules?

A:Yes, this OSFP-800G-2xSR4 optical module can be connected to two 400G SR4 optical modules via two 12-core multimode fiber patch cords.

Q:Can 400G OSFP modules be used for 800G OSFP ports?

A:Yes, 800G OSFP ports are backward compatible with 400G OSFP as long as the physical form factor is compatible.

Q:Can I use 800G OSFP optical modules for 800G QSFP-DD ports?

A:No, OSFP and QSFP-DD are different size packages, the physical size is not the same, so they are not compatible.

Q:Can different packages be interconnected at the same rate, such as OSFP and QSFP-DD?

A:OSFP and QSFP-DD are just physical form factors of the modules, as long as the modules are of the same type (e.g., SR4 or DR4), they can be interconnected.

Q:What is the difference between 8×100 (e.g. SR8) and 2×400 (e.g. 2xSR4) for 800G OSFP optical modules?

A:8×100G refers to the transmission of 8 channels of signals with 100G per channel on both the optical and electrical sides, while 2×400G is the transmission of 2 sets of 4-channel signals with 100G per channel.
