Q: Can XFP and SFP+ optical modules be interconnected?
A: Yes, they can be interconnected using the same optical fibers provided that their transmission speed, distance, and wavelength match. For example, a 10G XFP optical module operating at a wavelength of 1310nm with a transmission distance of 10KM can be interconnected with a 10G SFP+ optical module that also operates at 1310nm wavelength and supports a 10KM range. Although the market has witnessed optical modules with transmission rates increasing up to 200G, this does not signify that 10G optical modules are being phased out; currently, 10G modules remain the prevalent choice. Due to variations in size, structure, and compatibility, 10G XFP and 10G SFP+ optical modules are not interchangeable but serve complementary roles based on specific application requirements.
