Netgear AXM761 Compatible 10G SFP+ SR 850nm 300m LC MMF DDM Transceiver Module

Netgear AXM761 Compatible 10G SFP+ SR transceivers are high-performance, cost-effective modules supporting a data rate of 10.3 Gbps. The transceiver consists of three sections: a VCSEL laser transmitter, a PIN photodiode integrated with a trans-impedance preamplifier (TIA), and an MCU control unit. All modules satisfy class I laser safety requirements. The transceivers are compatible with SFP Multi-Source Agreement and SFF-8472 digital diagnostics functions.

What is an SFP+ module?

The SFP+ module is also called the SFP+ transceiver, SFP+ optical module, SFP+ optics, or SFP+ fiber transceiver. Although with several different names, they are the same product. However, most vendors referred to it as an SFP+ module and transceiver. When you search it on Google, you will find plenty of SFP+ suppliers, vendors, or shops.

Compared with the SFP module, the SFP+ module supports a higher speed of 8GFC, 10Gbps, and 16GFC. Furthermore, it also features a required built-in DDM/DOM (digital optical monitor) per SFF-8472. Whilersrose, the SFP module has no requirement for this function.

A typical SFP+ module comprises a cage, PCBA, chip, and optical TOSA+ROSA (sometimes BOSA for BiDi transceiver). See the below image.

To help understand the SFP+ better, we briefly introduce the basic SFP+ MSA (multi-source agreement). SFF-8431 and SFF-8432, launched by SFF Committee, define the electrical characteristics and mechanical specifications of the SFP+ module and host. Click here to learn more about the MSA.

FAQs About 10G SFP+ Transceivers

Q: SFP vs. SFP+. What is the difference?

A: The critical difference is the data transmission speed. SFP supports the typical rate of 155M, 1.25G, and 2.5G, whereas the SFP+ support 10G and 8G/16GFC.

Q: What is the maximum transmission distance SFP+ module?

A: It depends on the SFP+ speed. Take the 10G SFP+ as an example; most vendors provide an 80km version, but Optcore may provide an ultra-long distance of 100km over single mode fiber.

Q: Can I connect an SFP+ with an XFP module?

A: The answer is yes. But make sure that they have the same transmission speed and wavelength. Or else they will fail to establish a link.

Q: Can I receive a refund or return the product?

A:If you are unsatisfied with the product, you can either return it or request a refund from us. However, please remember that refunds will only be issued if the product is returned within 30 days of being received.

Q: What is the warranty for your 10G SFP+ transceivers?

A:All of our 10G SFP+ transceivers come with a 3-year warranty.

Q: What type of fiber cable should I use with Walsun 10G SFP+ transceivers?

A:It depends on the transceiver. For 10GBASE-SR & 10GBASE-LRM transceiver, you may use OM2 or OM3 fiber; OM3 fiber is a better choice because it has a more extended reach than OM2. For 10GBASE-LR/ER/ZR SFP+ transceiver, you should use a single mode fiber cable.

Q: What’s the weight of this SFP+ transceiver?

A:The net weight for this SFP+ is around 25 grams, and the shipping weight is approximately 30 grams.

Q: How to check the DDM information?

A:DDM also refers to DOM, allowing users to access diagnostic monitoring data for transceivers that enable Diagnostic Optical Monitoring (DOM). All of our 10G SFP+ transceivers support this function.

Q: What is the difference between 10G SFP+ and 10G XFP transceivers?

A:First, they have different form factors, XFP is an older and bigger version, and SFP+ is an enhanced smaller form factor and has become the most popular transceiver. Second, XFP built-in CDR supports Clock Data Recover, but SFP+ usually has no CDR. Clock Data Recover is a feature that helps recover clock data when it goes missing.
