How to Use 10G SFP+ CWDM Wavelength Division Optical Modules in Metropolitan Area Networks

Nowadays, the rapid development of data services has led to an increasing speed of IP network convergence, so network expansion is very important. In the construction of metropolitan area networks, there is a widespread problem of optical fiber shortage. Because metro expansion requires less channel numbers than trunk systems, and the distance is relatively short, optical amplification is not required, making CWDM technical solutions particularly suitable for Metro Optical Transport Network.

In the application of the CWDM system in the metropolitan area network, because it is not a long-distance transmission, the attenuation of oxygen and hydrogen ions is small, so its wavelength design is full optical range (1270nm-1610nm). CWDM technology realizes wavelength division multiplexing in the full wavelength range by reducing the requirements for the wavelength window and adopts a 20nm wavelength interval. The wider wavelength interval greatly simplifies the structure of the wavelength division multiplexer/demultiplexer. The following Walsun will introduce 10G SFP+ CWDM WDM optical modules:

1、10G CWDM SFP+ 1270nm-1610nm 10km(ESCxxX-3LCD10)

2、10G CWDM SFP+ 1270nm-1610nm 20km(ESCxxX-3LCD20)

These two 10G CWDM optical modules are both hot-swappable SFP+ package, dual-fiber LC interface, optional working wavelength is from 1270nm to 1610nm, equipped with DFB laser and APD photodetector. They conform to SFP28 MSA and 10G Ethernet standards, of which the highest speed is up to 11.1Gbps, and the farthest transmission is 10/20 kilometers through the single-mode optical fiber OS2.

3、10G CWDM SFP+ 1470nm-1610nm 40km(ESCxxX-3LCD40)

4、10G CWDM SFP+ 1470nm-1610nm 80km(ESCxxX-3LCD80)

These two 10G CWDM optical modules are both hot-swappable SFP+ package, dual-fiber LC interface, optional working wavelength 1470nm-1610nm, equipped with EML laser and APD photodetector. They conform to SFP28 MSA and 10G Ethernet standards, and the highest speed is up to 11.1Gbps, and the farthest transmission is 40/80 kilometers through single-mode optical fiber OS2.

Laying optical fiber to increase fiber core resources is the ultimate solution from a long-term perspective. However, the construction period is long, the construction is difficult, and the investment cost is high. In most cases, large customers want to quickly open services. It is the best choice to adopt CWDM as the solution of metropolitan area network construction.
