QSFP-DD, as the preferred packaging for 400G optical modules, can effectively expand the cloud capacity of data centers and meet the growing bandwidth requirements of ultra large data centers. In the previous blog, we introduced the 400G QSFP-DD FR4 optical module. Today Walsun will introduce you the commonly used long-distance transmission solution for large-scale data centers -400G QSFP-DD LR8.
Product features
The 400G QSFP-DD LR8 is an 8-channel full duplex transceiver integrated module, packaged in a hot pluggable QSFP-DD package, with a speed of up to 425Gbps. It complies with the QSFP-DD MSA and IEEE 802.3bs 400GBASE-LR8 Ethernet standards, adopts a dual LC interface, with a center wavelength of 1310nm and a working temperature range of 0~70 ℃. With FEC enabled in the system, the transmission distance can reach up to 10km through single-mode optical fiber, and the maximum power consumption is less than 12.5W, meeting RoHS environmental standards.

Working principle
Using a DML laser with 8 LWDM wavelengths (with a 5nm wavelength interval and an additional cooler TEC to control temperature), based on the PAM4 modulation format, a single wave rate of 106.25Gbps can be achieved, which is coupled into an SMF through MUX for transmission, achieving 425Gbps data interconnection within 10km.

Application Scenario
Walsun’s 400G QSFP-DDLR8 product has excellent performance, utilizing direct modulation laser (DML) transmitter technology to provide a low-power, low-risk, and cost-effective solution for 400G, mainly used in data centers and telecommunications networks.

Walsun is committed to providing customers with high-quality 400G high-speed optical moduleproducts and services, helping to develop the next generation of data centers. Regarding ultra large scale data center solutions, follow the official website and the next episode will be even more exciting!
