Different from other 40G QSFP+ optical modules, it can use either multimode optical fiber transmission or single-mode optical fiber transmission, and the interface type is duplex LC, It is suitable for upgrading 10G to 40G network cabling system.
The 40G QSFP+ LX4 optical module adopts CWDM wavelength division multiplexing technology. Its working wavelengths are 1271nm, 1291nm, 1311nm and 1331nm. It has four transmitting and receiving channels. If the multi-mode OM4 fiber patch cord is used for transmission, the maximum transmission distance can reach 150m; If the single-mode fiber patch cord is used for transmission, the maximum transmission distance can reach 2km.
The biggest advantage of 40G QSFP+ LX4 optical module is to upgrade 40g for 10G network to save cost. In the layout of 40G link, the options of short-range optical module are 40G QSFP+ SR4and 40G QSFP+ eSR4. However, the interface type of these optical modules is MPO interface. If these optical modules are used for 40G network upgrade, it is bound to be rewired, which will undoubtedly increase the cost of network upgrade. If 40G QSFP+ LX4 optical module is used, the original wiring system of 10G network can be used. However, 40G QSFP+ LX4 optical module can’t split 40G into four 10G links, while 40G SR4 of MPO interface can be split into four 10G links, so 40G SR4 can be connected with 10G SFP+ optical module.
